Introduction
Kvis is a bookkeeping app for Swedish businesses. Our starting point is simple: your accounting belongs to you.
Kvis stores your books on your device. There is no Kvis server or central Kvis database that holds your ledgers. Nothing is sent to us automatically.
This policy explains what information may exist in the app, which permissions are used, how optional sync and feedback work, and what choices you have.
What Kvis stores locally
Bookkeeping data is stored locally on your phone or tablet (SQLite via Drift) in the app’s storage. Examples of information that may be on the device:
- Company details and settings
- Customers, suppliers, and contact details you enter
- Invoices, quotes, sales, and purchases
- Expenses, receipts, and supplier invoices (including images/PDFs you import)
- Payroll, dividends, and related reports
- VAT, reports, year-end materials, and export files you create
- Learned categorization choices (for example how you previously booked a supplier)
- Local diagnostic logs and anonymous usage counters (see below)
What Kvis does not collect
Kvis has no central bookkeeping backend. We do not collect your books into a Kvis cloud.
- No advertising identifiers and no ad tracking
- No third-party analytics SDKs (for example Firebase Analytics, Sentry, Crashlytics, Amplitude)
- No bank logins or bank credentials collected by Kvis (the app does not ask for your bank accounts)
- No automatic upload of receipts or bookkeeping to Kvis
Permissions
The app only requests permissions needed for features you use. The system shows the exact wording when a permission is requested.
- Camera — photograph receipts and supporting documents for bookkeeping
- Photos / photo library — import receipts and supplier invoices from your photos
- Files / sharing — open PDFs and other files, accept shares from other apps, and save/share exports
- Local network (iOS) — find and sync with your other devices when you enable Local Network sync
- Bonjour service (_kvis-sync._tcp) — discovery of your other Kvis devices on the same network
OCR and AI
Optical character recognition (OCR) runs on the device: Apple Vision on iOS and Google ML Kit Text Recognition on Android. Images are not sent to a cloud OCR service to be read.
Account category suggestions, receipt text parsing, and similar help use rules, keywords, on-device merchant matching, and what you previously chose in the app — not a cloud AI or external language model.
The product tour narration uses local audio files and on-device text-to-speech. It does not send your bookkeeping to an AI service.
You confirm and can edit what OCR or category suggestions fill in before anything is posted.
Sync, iCloud backup, and export
By default, data stays on the device you work on. If you want, you can enable sync between your devices:
- Local Network — bookkeeping data is sent over HTTPS between devices you pair on the same Wi‑Fi. Requires you to enable sync and accept pairing.
- iCloud (CloudKit) — optional sync through your private iCloud account (same Apple ID). Data goes to your private CloudKit database, not a Kvis server. You control when sync is on.
- iOS device backup — the bookkeeping database and receipt files are included in normal iCloud/device backup if you have that enabled in system settings.
- Manual backup and export — you can create backups and exports (for example PDF, XML, SIE) and share them with the app or recipient you choose.
Feedback and diagnostics
Feedback is never sent automatically. When you report a bug or send feedback, Kvis opens your email app with a draft to support@kvis.se. You send the message yourself.
You can choose to attach technical diagnostics (app version, device, screens, local event/error logs). Diagnostics are designed not to include bookkeeping content.
Under Help & Feedback you can create a support package (ZIP) and choose what it includes. Bookkeeping is included only if you explicitly confirm. You preview and share the package yourself.
On the device, anonymous counters may be stored (for example how often a feature is used) — locally only, without personal or bookkeeping values. Diagnostic and crash logs are stored locally and controlled under Privacy & diagnostics; they are not uploaded automatically.
Crash reporting and analytics
Kvis does not use cloud crash or analytics SDKs. There is no automatic telemetry to Kvis.
Errors that occur may be stored locally so you can attach them if you contact support. You can clear them in the app.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your data. Kvis has no central bookkeeping database to sell from.
If you enable iCloud sync or device backup, data is handled under Apple’s terms for iCloud/CloudKit. If you send email or share a file, the information leaves the device through the service you choose (for example your email provider or recipient).
OCR on Android uses Google ML Kit on the device; Kvis does not upload your images to Kvis for OCR.
Retention
Data on the device remains until you delete it in the app, uninstall the app, or clear app data. Backups and export files you save outside the app are under your control.
Feedback you send by email is kept in our support inbox as long as needed to help you and improve the product, or until you ask us to delete it.
Local diagnostic logs can be cleared under Privacy & diagnostics.
Your rights
Because the books live on your device, you have direct control:
- Export and share data whenever you want
- Delete information in the app or uninstall the app
- Choose whether sync is on, and which method
- Choose what goes into feedback or a support package — and preview before you send
- Turn off or clear local diagnostic logs
Security
Data is protected by the operating system’s app sandbox. There is no central Kvis database to break into.
Kvis does not use a separate password-encrypted database (for example SQLCipher) beyond the platform’s normal file protection. On iOS, bookkeeping files participate in the system’s normal data protection and in device backup if you have enabled it.
Local Network sync uses HTTPS with device-specific certificates between paired devices. iCloud sync uses Apple’s private CloudKit for your account.
Children
Kvis is intended for business owners and professional bookkeeping — not for children.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be described in the app or on the website when reasonable.
